The Center of Excellence for Science and Technology of University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa Held the 3rd International Conference on Food Security (ICFSI)

The Center of Excellence for Science and Technology of University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa held the 3rd International Conference on Food Security (ICFSI) at Ledian Hotal, Serang. ICSFI 2019 discussed about the aim of sustainable growth, climate change, agriculture, plantation, maritime, and empowerment of local resources for global food innovation. The keynote speakers of the conference were Prof. Dr. Janet Mclntyre-Mills of Flinders University Australia, Prof. Yutaka Kitamura, Ph.D of Tsukuba University Jepang, Prof. Nazamid Saari, Ph.D of University Putra Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Umar Santoso., M.Sc of Universitas Gajah Mada, and Dr. Rida Oktorida of University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa.

The Rector of University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Dr. H. Fatah Sulaeman, S.T., M.T., said that food security has became a global issue which could affect various sectors if not handled carefully. There have been many problems regarding food, such as food availability, land use change, human population growth, and climate change. He further explained that food security in Indonesia could be divided into two dimension which were the access to affordable food and farmer protection. There were pros and cons of importing food nearly every year. Responding to the problem, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa collaborated with Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) held the 3rd International Conference on Food Security (ICFSI) with the aim of developing, optimizing, and deeply learning about various cases to achieve food security.

The 3rd International Conference on Food Security (ICFSI) was attended by researches from different kind of scientific fields, lecturers, and postgraduate students. The event was also attended by Vice Chancellor of Cooperation, Planning, and Information Systems; the Head of Academic, Student Affairs, and Planning (BAKP); Director of Project Management Unit of IsDB, Dr. Suseno Amin; and Excecutive Director of Implementation Unit of IsDB, Dr. Eng. Agung Sudrajat, MT, IsDB.

There were 40 presenters whose journals would be published by Thompson Educational Publishing and indexed by Thomson Reuters. Prof. Dr. Meutia, SE., MP Professor in Management hoped that there would be increasing amount of joint research between lecturers, both domestically and abroad. (Sekar)
